What people come in for
What It Is Used for Here
01 / 05
Acne Scarring
Indented and textural scarring left by acne. PRP alongside microneedling is one of the better approaches to it, and it needs a course.
02 / 05
Atrophic and Indented Scars
Where collagen and tissue structure were lost, leaving a scar that sits below the surrounding skin.
03 / 05
Certain Other Scars
Some older scars respond and some do not. Which yours is gets assessed honestly at consultation rather than promised beforehand.
04 / 05
Textural Irregularities
Areas where the skin surface is uneven and collagen remodelling is what is needed.
05 / 05
Skin Quality and Regeneration
Used across the face to support the skin’s own repair processes, particularly in combination with microneedling.

How it works
What PRP Is
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. A small amount of your blood is taken, exactly as it would be at a routine check-up, and placed in a centrifuge that spins at speed to separate its components. That separates out the golden platelet-rich portion: the part that carries your own concentrated platelets and the growth factors involved in repair.
That concentrate is then returned to the treatment area. Because it comes from your own blood, this is what is called an autologous treatment: there is nothing foreign involved, and it came from you less than an hour earlier.
Why It Is Combined With Microneedling
Microneedling creates controlled channels in the skin and switches on its natural wound-healing and collagen response. PRP is then introduced into an area that is already primed to repair, giving it your own platelets and growth factors to work with.
For scarring in particular, the combination is more useful than either part alone, which is why the two are usually planned together rather than sold separately.
How Many Treatments
Scars take time to remodel, so improvement is gradual. Expect a course of roughly three to six treatments, around four to six weeks apart, depending on the type, depth and age of the scar and how your skin responds. Your plan is agreed at consultation.
Being Straight About What It Can Do
PRP works with what is already there. It supports repair and collagen remodelling; it does not create new structure out of nothing. Improvement in scarring is real and it is progressive, and a dramatic result from a single session is not something anyone can honestly promise.
Nothing here but you
From Your Arm to Your Skin, in Four Steps
Scroll through it. The tube on the left does what the centrifuge does, and that golden layer is the whole treatment.
Draw
A small amount of blood is taken from your arm, exactly as it would be at a routine test. It is the easiest part of the appointment.
Spin
The sample goes into a centrifuge and spins at speed. Weight does the work: the heavier cells sink, the lighter plasma rises.
Separate
What is left on top is the golden part, platelet-rich plasma, carrying your own concentrated platelets and the growth factors involved in repair.
Return
The plasma is placed back where it is needed, usually alongside microneedling, so a skin that is already primed to repair has your own material to do it with.
Afterwards
What Happens, and When
01 Straight after
Red, Warm and Slightly Swollen
The treated skin can look red and feel warm, with some swelling. That is the healing response you have just paid for, and it settles.
02 First 48 hours
Protect the Skin Barrier
Keep the area clean. No make-up, no harsh skincare, no excessive sweating, swimming, sauna or steam room. Stay out of the sun. Do not pick at anything that flakes.
03 Weeks 1 to 4
The Quiet Part
The surface settles quickly and then, for a while, not much appears to happen. Collagen remodelling is slow work and it is happening whether or not you can see it.
04 Months 2 to 6
The Result Builds
Improvement in scar texture and skin quality develops across the course and keeps developing after it. This is a progressive treatment and it is judged in months.
Before you decide
Is This Right for You?
Tick anything that sounds like you. Nothing is recorded, and nothing here is a diagnosis: it is the conversation you would have in the room, started early.
Probably, yes

Probably not, yet
This Is Not the Right Starting Point If
Tick what applies and you will be told where that leaves you.

A course is usually three to six sessions. The number is agreed after assessment, and you are told honestly if your scar is unlikely to respond.

Questions People Ask
It is the same as a routine blood test. Most people find the blood draw the easiest part of the appointment.
Because that is what it looks like. Once the centrifuge has separated your blood, the platelet-rich plasma is a clear golden colour. The nickname is about the appearance, not a claim about the results.
Usually three to six, four to six weeks apart, depending on the scar and how your skin responds.
Not quickly. Collagen remodelling is gradual, so improvement develops over the months following your course rather than in the days after a session.
No. That is the point of it. The plasma is separated from your own sample and returned to you within the same appointment.
Yes, and for scarring it usually is. The two are planned together because they work better that way.
